The 2017 Taiwan College Students Workplace Study Activity recently kicked off in Shanghai. A total of 60 Taiwanese college students from 10 universities in Taiwan went deep into Hi-P International Group and began a one-month workplace study, which has been held for the third time so far.

Yao Xiaodong, chairman of Hi-P International Group, who was born in the mainland and moved to Taiwan with his parents at the age of 5, is the initiator of the study program, he told journalist that people always ask me why I am keen to hold this kind of study activity on both sides of the Taiwan Strait, because I think it is very meaningful, people always have an experience in their life is unforgettable, and there is a direction for their own life. I hope that our learning activities can also play such a role.  

Exercise and grow on the vast platform of the mainland

Hi-P International is a world-class electronics manufacturer started by plastic mold, headquartered in Singapore, the main factories are distributed across the mainland, there are more than 10 gathered in Shanghai, providing 20,000 job opportunities, but also Apple, HP, Gillette and ofo shared bicycles and other famous brand suppliers. During the study period, the students will be assigned to different positions in the enterprise to study, taking into account the factors such as their major, personal volunteer, job characteristics and enterprise needs, and at the same time, the training courses, tutors and on-the-job training will be carefully arranged.

In 1979, at the age of 39, Yao Xiaodong was appointed by DuPont to work from Taiwan to Singapore. Four years later, Yao Xiaodong, as a technical manager, left Shebang Company and took over Hi-P International, which had been losing money for three consecutive years. He embarked on the road of entrepreneurship and led the company out of the circumstances, making it a prominent listed company and the "Global Chinese Businessmen 1000 List". The branch structure of Hi-P International has also expanded dramatically, and has been distributed in mainland China, Southeast Asia, Europe, the Americas and other regions.

In 1991, Yao Xiaodong with the Singapore Economic Development Board delegation to visit Japan, return through Shanghai, decided to set up a factory in Shanghai. Two years later, he made a decision to go out of Singapore and invest in China. Looking back on the development of the enterprise, Yao Xiaodong sighed :" Hi-P International has obtained great benefits in mainland China. Because we have such a big platform, we can have such growth.

Young people in Taiwan should really go out

To build a company as big as Hi-P International in Singapore, when I say 3,000 employees, people don't believe me anymore. The company in the mainland, the most employees when there are more than 20,000 people, there are more than 14,000 people. Because the whole continent is increasing productivity, we are also quite automated, which increases productivity." Yao Xiaodong said.

In Yao Xiaodong's view, Hi-P International can achieve today's development, can not be separated from the fine environment of the mainland. He urged more young people from Taiwan to visit the mainland. Taiwan's young people are really quite hard, and the salary level in the mainland, especially the salary of senior managers, has far exceeded Taiwan. Many young people in Taiwan are unable to find good jobs quickly. I think young people in Taiwan should really go out.

Yao Xiaodong said that more young people from Taiwan come to the mainland to work and participate in the construction of the Belt and Road Initiative, so as to achieve greater development. The young people of Taiwan should have a higher and more far-sighted vision to develop their own careers and contribute to the development of both sides of the Straits.

Study provides learning opportunities to familiarize yourself with the mainland

"There are many students in the first two sessions to participate in this activity, all feel very shocked, the original mainland has developed so fast, so good." I will also tell them that when I came to the mainland in the early years, I felt that Singapore's construction was much better than that of the mainland. Now it is not only Shanghai that is developing well, but also Shenzhen, Nantong, Ningxia, Wuhan and other places that have achieved good development. "The rapid development of hardware is on the one hand, and the progress of humanities is also comparable," Yao said.

Mai Jinlun, a senior at Kaohsiung University of Applied Science and Technology, admitted that he is looking forward to the study and will cherish the rare opportunity. Du Wanlin, a Taiwanese businessman from Tainan, said :" Because my parents often travel to the mainland, they often tell me about the things on the mainland, so I am looking forward to working here in the future, and the Hi-P International Study Program provides a rare opportunity to learn."

It is reported that in addition to studying in Hi-P International, Taiwan university students will also use the weekend to visit Shanghai scenic spots and participate in discussions and exchanges. The organizer specially launched a collection of works themed "Discover Shanghai" for this activity, encouraging Taiwanese students to record their feelings and feelings during the workplace study and their life experience in Shanghai in the form of text, photos and videos, among which excellent works will be awarded. In addition, the organizers also actively apply for bank cards and phone cards for these Taiwan students to facilitate them to experience the convenient life in the mainland more comprehensively.
